Just returned from Italy...very tired

Meg and I got back from celebrating our 5 year anniversary...in Italy! What an awesome blessing that is!

It was an amazing trip. My senses are on overload....taste and smell for the food and wine; sight for the spectacular art; touch for the beautiful weather and hearing for the many beautiful melodies I concocted while taking showers around Italy (they're not really beautiful...kind of rediculous actually...but Megan gets a good laugh out of them).

We sort of idealized Italy before going. It was great, but it was also very trying at times. We learned that we would really benefit from having more patience when it comes to...well...everything. Neither of us know the language, so our communication in some places consisted of a lot of sound effects and hand signals...amazing what a few seasons of watching "Who's line is it anyway" can do for you!! Trains and other modes of transport are never on time...which gets you unecessarily worked up. As an American, I expect the transport to be on time. If it isn't, I risk missing my connection, which is tightly scheduled in order to avoid being inactive for too long, waiting for a new transport. God forbid I actually sit for a few minutes, sip a coffee and enjoy the world around me!! And of course, the transport (usually train) is quite consistently late. I get stressed, thinking I'll miss my connection only to find out that the connecting transport is also late...somehow things just sort of work out in Italy...don't know how, but Murphy's law seems to be on hold in Italy. They certainly give it enough opportunity to prove itself.

By the way...don't buy your supplementals on the actual train itself...it costs twice as much...buy them at the connecting train statzione. It'll save you time, money and stress. Funny story about supplementals, which I'll have to tell later...getting very sleepy...must go to bed.

Ciao for now!

PREDICTION: Mullets will be back in style, in the US, within two years (see Milan)
