Church Planting 101

So I read the recent interview in the "Cutting Edge" (the Vineyard church planting periodical) of Steve Nicholson (Nat'l Church Planting overseer). My summary of Church Planting 101 is: Your life is no longer your own! So, don't go into church planting thinking that it will be...it won't.

One of the core values that Megan and I share and want our church to reflect is about balance. We strongly desire for our lives to be balanced between all of the areas that need attention: spiritually, mentally, physically, emotionally, vocationally, relationally...etc. Of course, living this balance minute by minute or even day by day may be unrealistic. However, I expect that we should be able to have that balance over the course of a month. When you step back and look at the big picture of your life, you should be able to see evidence of a balance through the months. Living a life of balance will allow us to freely worship God the way we were created to do so. When we are out of whack, our relationship with God often suffers. Enough preaching...The real struggle with church planting would be to live and breath this value, while living the life of being in a start up church. How oh how does one do that?!!?

Together. Living and sharing the mercy, truth and love of God.

Does that sound good? Does it express someting to you? I hope it does. That's what we want in our church. I'll flush it out in further posts.
