Easter Reflection: Relevance of the life of Jesus

How can we best honor the death of Christ?
By doing everything we can to discover, understand and live the life of Christ!

While the death of Christ in all its meaning is absolutely fundamental to our faith and salvation, the life of Christ cannot be overlooked. The church's preoccupation with the order of salvation (ordo salutis) appears to be imbalanced. It seems to have led us, despite the intentions of the reformers, to a sort of "bar code christianity", as Dallas Willard puts it. You go through the steps to salvation, then "zap!", you're saved! You've now been coded into the system and can go about believing and acting as you wish.

Lets get the focus back into balance (not swinging the pendulum too far in the other direction, forgetting about his sacrifice). We need to know Jesus, to understand his life, to emulate his ways, to live his life, as well as understand and receive his sacrifice.
